
Principal Researcher at the Kajima Technical Research Institute
Yoriyuki Yamada is a Principal Researcher at the Kajima Technical Research Institute and the head of the Sustainable Society Lab. He conducts research and development on business models for payments for ecosystem services(PES), focusing on the multifaceted functions of forests. His work includes evaluating and monetizing watershed conservation functions, in addition to timber production and carbon credits. Furthermore, as a Visiting Professor at Chiba University, he lectures on payments for ecosystem services.
Yamada holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he received a Ph.D. in Ecosystem Service Evaluation from Chiba University. He has received the Excellent Awards at the 1st Japan Biodiversity Award, the Good Design Award, and the Civil Engineering Society Award.
