Bob Izlar has been founding director of the UGA Harley Langdale, Jr. Center for Forest Business since 1998. He has 24 years of operational forestry experience in forest industry. His interests are in finance, operations, business management, and policy. He has traveled in Canada, Central America, Asia, Europe, South America and the South Pacific.
He received his BSFR and MFR from the University of Georgia and an MBA from Georgia Southern University. He is a Fellow of the Society of American Foresters, a Fellow of the Swedish Royal Academy of Agriculture and Forestry and SAF Sir William Schlich Memorial medalist.
Izlar is a retired United States Army Colonel with 36 years’ service.
For local interest, he is a native of the Holy City of Waycross and an expert on the Okefenokee Swamp.
