As Senior Advisor at the EBRD’s Environment & Sustainability team in London HQ for over 13 years Alexandra is leading environmental and social assessment of investment projects applying for the Bank’s financing in energy, industry, mining and other sectors across several regions (Eastern and Central Europe, Balkans, Central Asia and North Africa). She acts as a sector lead specifically in pharmaceutical and forestry/wood-processing industries within ESG and sustainability remit.
At the level of Bank’s investment projects her focus is on ensuring compliance with EBRD safeguard policies and EU laws related to environmental, health, safety and social requirements, monitoring of projects’ implementation, maintaining communication with various stakeholders and participating in conflict resolution and investigation efforts. The policy dialogue related work involves managing several technical cooperation frameworks dedicated to sector studies and other sustainability related assignments, including Alexandra’s coordination of Belarus Forestry study and Western Ukraine’s FSC certification programme among other wood industry TC projects.
Prior to joining EBRD, Alexandra completed MSc in Environmental Management from the University of Oxford 2007/8 with specialisation in resource efficiency and climate change. This was preceded by five years involvement with private sector companies and a background in international relations and economics with Belarusian State University MA diploma and MBA. Other professional qualifications: NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, IEMA Approved Certificate in Environmental Audit, and University of Oxford Professional Development Advanced Project Management.
