Hendrikus Odendal is Wood Supply & Forestry Regional Manager at IKEA.
Born in South Africa, Studied Forestry in South Africa and after a MSC in Energy Economics in Scotland.
Currently Mr. Odendal is the Wood Supply & Forestry Regional Manager in North, Central Europe and Western Russia for IKEA purchasing . Ensuring and supporting sustainable sources and cost competitiveness.
Previously, he was Wood Purchasing Department Manager at International Paper in Poland. Mr. Odendal guided a good team in ensuring that cost reduction efforts were aligned for the enterprise and achieved a sustainable competitive advantage for IP .
Prior to IP, he was the Wood Purchasing Manager at Norbord UK, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of engineered wood-based panel products. He managed the procurement, supply contracts, logistics, FSC/PEFC chain of custody, price forecasting and stock management of wood fibre, energy and commodities in order to optimize the use of manufacturing inputs across the business.
Prior to Norbord, Mr. Odendal was the Fibre Supply Operations Manager at UPM-Tilhill, where he managed road and ocean transport of pulpwood / fuel wood to Scandinavia and throughout the British Islands. He also managed, purchased and scheduled biomass and fuel wood road deliveries to UPM CHP (combined heat and power) plants in the UK. Reporting to the European Fibre Supply Business Manager, he managed the procurement, energy based pricing structure and quality of the biomass products.
